The Village Bakery offers artisan breads, pastries, cookies and cakes for all occasions. Pastry chef, Karen Child, oversees a talented staff of bakers and pastry cooks who make our baked goods in house from the finest ingredients in the old world tradition of quality and freshness. Breakfast catering, gourmet cookie platters and celebration cakes are specialities. We serve Small World Coffee produced by Small World Roasters of Rocky Hill, NJ. We offer natural fruit butters produced by Muirhead Foods of Ringoes, NJ.

Artisan Breads - Baked Fresh Daily

Baguette

Arguably the most identifiable of traditional French breads. Usually about 1 1/2 to 2 feet in length and 3 to 4 inches in diameter. It has a soft, chewy interior surrounded by a crispy, brown crust. The Village Bakery offers plain, semolina, and garlic baguettes.

Batard

A cross between a baguette and a “pain,” which is a round, rural French bread. A batard is shorter and fatter than a baguette, but usually weighs about the same. The Village Bakery offers a parmesan batard.

Boule

A medium-sized, round French bread with a particularly crusty exterior. The Village Bakery offers multigrain, black olive, and sun dried tomato boules.

Ciabatta

Like the baguette is to France, so some argue that the ciabatta – which means “slipper” in Italian -- is to Italy. Either oval or rectangular loaf, a ciabatta is slightly flattish with a crusty exterior and soft, airy crumb. The Village Bakery offers plain and green olive ciabatta loaves, as well as ciabatta dinner rolls and sandwich rolls.

Focaccia

Often referred to as an Italian country flat bread, focaccia can be round or square in shape and has olive oil kneaded into the basic dough. It can be topped with sea salt, herbs, onions, proscuitto, tomatoes or cheese. The Village Bakery offers plain and tomato-basil focaccia.

Fougasse

Somewhat akin to focaccia, this French medium- to large-sized flat bread has distinctive deep cuts representing branches of a tree, cogwheels, or even the grate of a fireplace. The Village Bakery offers a blue-cheese walnut fougasse.

Rolls

The Village Bakery offers a variety of rolls, including plain, semolina, black olive, sun dried tomato, rosemary and pumpernickel.
